Buffet 101 at the New Glorietta
3rd Floor, Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Makati
22 September 2014
On a whim my wife and I visited the newly opened Buffet 101 at the New Glorietta, we were enticed by the promise of an elegant and upscale buffet that they were able to deliver in their Mall of Asia branch. Their tagline of serving the same level of gastronomic experience as in upscale hotels is up for my judgment.
If any of you have gone up north to Subic, for sure you’ve tried or at least heard of Meat Plus Cafe, a local steak house popular with the locals and the tourists as well. It’s a very homey and familiar steak house that evokes a southern comfort vibe. True enough and it was only a matter of time before they would expand and join the ever growing Manila food scene. As they have already opened for quite a while, and a bit of buzz has been made; I will try to provide a glimpse of what they have to offer on my family’s second visit to the steak joint. I’m a big fan of anything sweet, if it has sugar, count me in! It was no surprise that when Krispy Kreme opened in the Philippines, I became an instant addict. Now with the different donut shops opening in Manila, this foreign franchise started knocking on my sweet tooth consciousness. It was just one random afternoon when my wife and I decided to buy a dozen at J. Co on our way home.
We picked up my aunt and uncle from the airport and they were quite hungry, so they asked us where we could have lunch. We decided to go to Newport Mall and try out New Orleans. Since they just came from the US and visited the real New Orleans a few months ago, I hoped that they would like the taste and vibe of the restaurant.
The place and the interiors
The interiors of the restaurant was very eclectic, it offered the Mardi gras atmosphere that New Orleans is know for. The background music was jazz and sax, echoing the sounds of New Orleans.
I love the chandelier with the cymbals; it was very interesting and showcased the uniqueness of New Orleans, the city, as a center of music and arts.
The red brick wall was just beside us and it did provide soul to the place with the windows and all, it made you feel that you were sitting outside a building in a café on the street. Continue reading →
Wow! This was once part of my elementary and high school days. Domino’s was one great pizza chain, I love how perfect their pizza crust is. Just the right consistency. I think I was in first year high school when we would call in and have pizza delivered, my cousin and I love the deluxe, the potato tots and the apple pie.
I’m not sure but I’ve heard that the franchise left the country a few years back, but now it’s been here for quite some time and I’ve noticed that branches have been opening around town. So, I passed by one branch near where I work and out of the blue decided to buy and eat Domino’s again.
